Clay Basics is a 8-week course introducing students to clay. We will dedicate the majority of our time on the wheel. We will focus on learning and refining techniques to create cylinders — foundational shape for wheel techniques — and explore other forms, such as bowls and plates, based on student interests.
To get to know our community studio better, we will spend a session to learn how to use other studio equipment such as the slab roller. In this session, we will use slabs and molds to experiment with handbuilding techniques. In addition to wheel and handbuilding techniques, we will dedicate a session to glazing.
A sliding scale for tuition is available. Students are highly encouraged to attend lab once a week.
25lbs of clay is provided free of charge. Please contact the instructor if you have any questions.
Refund Policy: Full refund if the student notifies the instructor 8 days or more before the start of the class. No refund 7 days or less before the class begins.
