PITCHERS AND MUGS: DEVELOPING STYLE AND VOICE WITH A POTTER’S WORKBOOK

with Christie Goodfellow

LEVEL: intermediate/advanced beginner wheel

Mondays, 6:00-8:30 PM, April 20th-June 1st (no class 5/25)

Cost: $325

This 6-week wheel-throwing class is inspired by Clary Illian’s renowned book, A Potter’s Workbook and will focus on utilitarian forms with handles. Through guided exercises, demonstrations, and group discussions, we’ll investigate the nuances of pitchers and mugs while examining proportion, balance, and overall design. The goal of the class is to strengthen wheel-throwing skills while developing a personal approach that highlights the unique character of each potter’s functional pots. Prior wheel-throwing experience is required. Participants may need to purchase additional clay during the session and should anticipate spending time outside of class to read the text book and work on the wheel. The material fee covers the cost of the book, if needed.

Refund Policy: full refund with 2+ weeks notice before class start date; 50% 7–14 days before start of class; no refund within the week before start of class session.
